I had work for the first time in two weeks today, since last two times I couldn't go 'cause of Disney World. It was kind of surreal going back, but I did notice a few things.
For one, I knew that we were in a recession, but I still thought 'hey, it will never affect Dairy Queen. It's a giant corporation and people ♥ ice cream'. Today I noticed not only a cut in
everyone's hours - even the people that work a lot more regularly than me had to apparently 'beg' for their hours; I'm getting four a week instead of my usual five - but also a change in everyone's orders.
Instead of "Okay, we're gonna need a large blizzard for each of us and extra toppings for each," (it's a buck for extra toppings - highway robbery, right?) I heard a lot more "Okay . . . can we have one large blizzard to share, and a few water cups?"
I didn't really mind, I mean hey, less work for me, but it was kind of the first time I've seen the recession close-up besides from my parents worrying. I was planning to ditch Dairy Queen once I turn sixteen; after seeing this today, I don't know if I'll be able to
find one. At the very least, I'll need to find one before I give two weeks' notice, not after . . . also, I had to work with people I normally don't get along with well (Steven, Jaqueline, Chante, Mercedes) and actually had an okay time. Probably because it wasn't busy at all.
A reason I wanted to quit there was because once you turn sixteen they teach you brazier (food you cook, not ice cream). I seriously don't want to do that. Brazier disgusts me. If you get some ice cream on your hand, that's not bad and in fact pretty yummy. Getting ground beef on your hand? NO. I considered telling them I was a vegetarian or something just to get out of it (ff even though I eat hot dogs there like every day). Jaqueline told me today that they don't push you in there RIGHT when you turn sixteen when I told her I wasn't all that thrilled about it . . . I dunno, it just kind of calmed me down. Maybe it'll be okay. Who knows? I don't want to leave
so vehemently now.
I wish I could find a secretary job or something, lol.
I have a Japanese presentation on Monday, wish me luck.
